movies
Movies I like for story, taste, systems thinking, technology, ambition, and the occasional reminder that beautiful interfaces still need humans behind them.
- I like films where people build, investigate, or obsess carefully.
- I notice product taste, interfaces, teams, and incentives.
- I enjoy stories that make technology feel human and complicated.
The Social Network by David Fincher, 2010 Still one of the sharpest movies about ambition, product instinct, ego, and the strange social weather around building software.
The Imitation Game by Morten Tyldum, 2014 A dramatized but memorable story about computation, codebreaking, pressure, and the loneliness that can sit near original work.
Hidden Figures by Theodore Melfi, 2016 Math, systems, excellence, and people doing difficult technical work inside institutions that did not make it easy.
Moneyball by Bennett Miller, 2011 A product and data movie in disguise: finding signal, trusting models, and changing a system that thinks it already knows everything.
Her by Spike Jonze, 2013 Useful for thinking about AI interfaces, intimacy, voice, taste, and how software can become emotionally present.
Ex Machina by Alex Garland, 2014 A clean, unsettling AI story about incentives, evaluation, control, and the danger of mistaking a demo for understanding.
Black Panther by Ryan Coogler, 2018 Afrofuturism, design, technology, identity, and world-building with real visual confidence.
October Sky by Joe Johnston, 1999 A sincere builder story: curiosity, experiments, failure, family pressure, and the stubborn joy of making something fly.
